The battle of the mixers begins Saturday with not one, but two reasons to shake it up. Will you be mixing Bourbon & mint or Tequila & lime?
Below is a vintage recipe for the iconic mint julep cocktail that we borrowed from our friends at
Garden and Gun Magazine
.
Southern Mint Julep
1 glass of Bourbon
4 sprigs of fresh mint
1/2 tbsp. powdered sugar
In a julep cup, crush the mint leaves and sugar lightly together, add bourbon and fill glass with cracked ice; stir gently until cup is frosted. Decorate on top with 3 sprigs of mint.
For our margarita lovers, here's an all natural recipe from
Tequila.net
for mixing the perfect margarita.
Puro Margarita
1.5oz Tequila 100% Agave
2tsp. Agave Nectar
1oz. fresh squeezed lime juice
Mix contents, swirl or stir to dissolve Agave nectar, add enough ice to fill your preferred margarita glass, shake and serve. Garnish with lime wheel or wedge, salt glass rim (optional).
Just so you know, we're routing for
"I'll Have Another"
in the Kentucky Derby Race on Saturday. The name just fits right into our blog post!
Which refreshing beverage are you mixing up on Saturday?
