Rough Hollow is served by the award-winning Lake Travis Independent School District, which includes Serene Hills Elementary School, Lake Travis Middle School, and Lake Travis High School.


Serene Hills Elementary
Serene Hills Elementary strives to create a positive learning environment geared to meet the needs of students, teachers, and the community. Students are expected to gain self-esteem, problem solving skills and leadership qualities, and to develop a team player attitude as they acquire a life-long desire to learn.

Lake Travis Middle School
The curriculum at the newly-reconstructed campus is designed around the core academic classes of mathematics, science, language arts, and social studies. The elective curriculum offers a broad array of courses including athletics, health, physical education, Spanish (8th), dance, art, choir, theatre arts, band, orchestra, yearbook, and digital graphics.

Students at all grade levels have the opportunity to participate in UIL academic competition, NJHS, Gov Club (student council), math contests, art, choir, band, theatre arts and orchestra programs. UIL athletics is offered in Grades 7 and 8. Students may compete in football, cross country, volleyball, basketball, track and field, tennis, and golf. Eighth graders may also participate in cheerleading.

Lake Travis High School
Lake Travis High School is a nationally-recognized, comprehensive high school serving approximately 2,200 students. The school offers more than 210 courses utilizing a multi-level curriculum designed to meet the needs of each student. Fourteen Pre-AP and 26 Advanced Placement courses are offered in English, math, science, social studies, computer science, other languages, music and art. A variety of career and technical courses are also offered. A special education life skills program is available to meet the needs of identified students. The school operates on an alternating block format with four, 90-minute classes meeting every other day. Four 9-week terms comprise the school year. Terms 1 and 2 make up the fall semester from August to December, while Terms 3 and 4 make up the spring semester from January to May.

In addition, a strong athletic program offers participation in 17 competitive sports. Students also have the opportunity to participate in band, drill team, cheerleading, choir, orchestra, debate, theater and UIL academic activities. There are also more than 50 student clubs and organizations across the campus.

 


FITNESSWork Out

The Fitness Center boasts two gyms – the main gym featuring Cybex's state-of-the-art VR3 Range limiting strength line, along with dumbbells, boxing and functional training area that can be used for core/stabilization training, balance training, plyometrics and floor work. The separate cardio gym hosts the state-of-the-art Precor AMT (Adaptive Motion Trainer), Cybex Treadmills, Cybex Total Body Arc Trainers, Versa Climber, Fluid Rower and the innovative Expresso S2 stationary bike that utilizes virtual reality technology.

The Fitness Center is overseen by Paul Holubets, CPT, a nationally certified personal trainer with ACE, American Council on Exercise and NASM, National Academy of Sports Medicine, who uses a combination of knowledge, personal experience and compassion to give his clients high levels of fitness, motivation and confidence.

TENNISPlay Hard

The scenic Texas Hill Country is the setting for the World of Tennis Sports Complex, which has offered a world-class tennis experience since 1973. Tennis legends such as Jimmy Connors, Rod Laver, Billie Jean King, Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova competed on the stadium court during the early years, and more recently, Pete Sampras, Todd Martin, Jim Courier and others.

The World of Tennis caters to a very active tennis membership. Their programming includes USTA, WTTA and ATL team tennis as well as many opportunities to participate in intraclub league play, social mixers and competitive tournaments. The facility features 16 outdoor courts – 12 lighted for evening play – and two climate-controlled indoor courts. A full-service fitness facility, spa operations, locker rooms, snack bar outlet and pool completes the complex.

Racket stringing is readily available with expert advice from our tennis professionals. In most cases, rackets are strung in 24 hours.

If you need a good practice partner, our ball machine offers you the luxury of a partner that never misses and will push you to your limits.

Lessons and clinics
Private, semi-private and group lessons as well as drop-in clinics are available year-round with any of our USPTA/USPTR professionals. Adults and juniors benefit from an excellent staff of seasoned instructors

Evaluations
Complimentary evaluations are offered for all new and existing Members who wish to become involved in tennis activities. Each evaluation consists of hitting with a staff Member to determine level of play.

Leagues & Tournaments
Leagues
Club leagues and team tennis leagues are an integral part of the Club experience.
The World of Tennis competes in all available team tennis programs offered in the Austin area. Women’s Team Tennis of Austin offers doubles play for women in the spring and fall of each year. USTA leagues for men, women and mixed doubles are offered year-round and provide the opportunity for both singles and doubles play at all NTRP levels. Austin Tennis League is a coed program that also offers singles and doubles in the fall and spring based upon skill levels.

Tournaments
For the past decade, the World of Tennis has hosted the Super Senior Category II National Championship as well as both the individual and team championships for the UIL State High School State Championships. All three of these events attract some of the best players in our state and country to the club for competition.  In addition, Club tournaments are held throughout the year to create competition beyond league play for Members.

GOLFPerfect your Game

The Hills of Lakeway offers its Members two clubs for world-class golf in Austin: The Hills Country Club and Lakeway Country Club. Combined, these spectacular Austin golf clubs deliver some of the finest championship golf in Austin, Texas.

The Hills Country Club offers two stunning championship courses by world-famous, indsutry renowned Nicklaus Design. The Hills was the first golf course in Austin at the Club and was designed exclusively by Jack Nicklaus. Flintrock Falls, the second course, was designed by both Jack Nicklaus and Jack Nicklaus II. No other private country club in Central Texas offers Members this extraordinary caliber of Texas golf courses.

As a Member of The Hills of Lakeway Golf Club, you can learn to play your best golf and perfect your game at the world-recognized Academy of Golf. Also designed by Jack Nicklaus, this is the first site ever created and constructed specifically for learning to play better golf. The Academy complex has a 500-yard learning center with target greens and three beautiful, championship Austin golf holes. Tom Kite ranks it as the No. 1 golf training and practice facility in the country, and it’s the perfect place to hone your golf skills.

The Hills of Lakeway Country Club features 36 holes of incredible golf in Austin played over two very unique layouts. Both the Live Oak and Yaupon Austin golf courses offer various challenges with rolling hills, blind tee shots and tree-lined fairways.

Yaupon Course
Featuring all the hallmarks of a great Texas course, Yaupon was designed by Leon Howard and proves to be a challenge for players of any level, claiming one of the most difficult starting holes in the Hill Country. With lush fairways and roughs that are just hard enough, this scenic course features elegantly manicured fairways, Tifwarf Bermuda greens and plenty of tall, native trees, which combine to frame some of the most beautiful panoramic views of the Austin Hill Country.

Live Oak Course
Designed by Leon Howard, the Live Oak golf course opened in 1965 and features a par 3, hole #3, commonly referred to as Jaws. The hole plays 204 yards from the gold tees over a deep ravine that gobbles up any shot that falls short of the green.

For those families or beginners visiting the course, Live Oak recently established a Family Course with tees place forward of the “red” tees, making an easier and friendlier day on the links for kids and beginners, alike. For older beginners, 18 Blue Diamonds have been placed along the course for an extra challenge.

They say everything is bigger in Texas – and that includes appetites. So when it’s time to dine, you won’t find more delicious cuisine anywhere than here in the heart of the Hill Country.

Enjoy the casual elegance of Lakeway’s premiere lakefront dining venue, The Grille at Rough Hollow. The Grille is open Tuesday through Sunday for Lunch and Dinner, and offers a fantastic Sunday Brunch. The restaurant has a friendly neighborhood atmosphere and offers plenty of outdoor seating to take in the gorgeous view. They are available for large parties and events, and the Yacht Club Pavilion may be reserved for up to 250 guests for private receptions.

At Rough Hollow, there are so so many ways and places to play. Young families enjoy the pools, learning to fish on the lake and easy pick-up sports and games in the neighborhood. Teens love wake boarding on Lake Travis and mountain biking on trails. Moms love Mommy & Me gatherings at the fitness center and (and baby sitting for yoga classes!).
